The Putnam County Republican Committee overwhelmingly endorsed MaryEllen Odell in her bid for re-election as Putnam County Executive at its convention held on Thursday, May 17, at the Italian American Club of Mahopac. She won the committee’s vote 138 to 11 over her challenger.

“I am grateful for the committee’s vote of confidence in me,” said County Executive Odell, who was not present at the convention because she was at the Emergency Operations Center in Carmel managing the recovery efforts from the tornadoes that caused considerable destruction throughout the county on Tuesday evening. “I love the people of Putnam County and I am proud of our record.”

Odell added, “We have the lowest tax bill of any county in the state and we’ve kept taxes and spending low even as we’ve reduced our long-term debt by 15% and eliminated our short-term debt. Plus, we have made key investments in revitalizing the Putnam County Golf Course, Tilly Foster Farm and Educational Institute as well as laying the groundwork for both the Mahopac-Route 6 and Danbury-Brewster sewer projects that will bring renewed economic vitality along the Route 6 corridor, creating jobs and improving the quality of like for all our residents. There is still much more work to be done, but I’m proud to say that Putnam County is heading in the right direction and I’m more excited than ever for our future.”
